Is summer even summer without an alfresco movie night in Southampton? Fortunately, we’ll never have to answer that question. On Friday, July 7, air mail, Brunello Cucinelli, and the Cinema Society hosted a screening of Maggie Moore(s), the new feature film directed by John Slattery, at a private oceanfront home.

As the sun set over the sand dunes, and after enjoying a few beachfront cocktails, Jane Buffett, Marci Klein, Nancy McCartney, Andy Cohen, Air Mail’s Alessandra Stanley and Emily Davis, and Donna Karan (among others) took their spots at a long table for dinner. As they got to work on the fried chicken, succotash, and eggplant Parmesan, conversation turned to where to go in Ischia (Mezzatorre Hotel and Thermal Spa, advised Linda Wells) and where to eat in Paris (Loulou and Cibo, declared Darren Star).

Then it was time for Slattery to introduce the film. A comedic murder mystery, it follows a small-town police chief (Jon Hamm), his love interest (Tina Fey), and the high jinks that ensue when two women with the same name turn up dead. Happily, no such fate awaited any guests at this particular soirée. Although, come to think of it, that would make a pretty good plotline …
