Whenever Gianni Agnelli landed in Madrid around dinnertime, his driver would meet him outside the airport take him straight to La Trainera. It’s exactly the sort of place you’d imagine the avvocato eating at—stepping into the 300-seat marisqueria feels akin to stepping into an old ship. Plaques, ship wheels, rudders, and nets dot the walls, while the wait-staff looks like they were imported from centuries past. The fish is as satisfying as the décor. You can have your pick between shrimp, Galician barnacles, oysters, fish soup, and much more. We at AIR MAIL favor the Cantabrian lobster. —Elena Clavarino
