Established in the 8th century B.C., Rome is full of wonders. Although its endless sites make it the perfect city for those who prefer treating sightseeing like a marathon, Rome is also great to visit at an agreeable pace. You definitely don’t want to miss the classics (the Pantheon, the Campo de’ Fiori, the Vatican … the list goes on). We also recommend visiting the Villa Borghese gardens, commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in 1606, and the Church of St. Louis of the French, which houses a trio of Caravaggio paintings. To get into the Roman rhythm, stop for breakfast at Caffè Greco, have some coffee at Ciampini, and get dinner at Trattoria da Enzo. If you can, make your way around the city on foot—we like the conveniently located Hotel de Russie and Hotel Eden.
