This is the restaurant where Ennio Morricone used to celebrate his birthday—and the same place where Giovanni Falcone had his last meal before boarding his last, fateful flight to Palermo. Though the love I feel for both of these figures has helped me to instinctively love this place, the outdoor space overlooking the Piazza Campitelli still has a charm and a flavor of bygone times that would be sufficient in itself. Its appetizer buffet always offers a variety of vegetables and small wonders prepared fresh every day. It’s not too crowded or noisy—the perfect place for spending a pleasant evening with friends. Just a few steps away, the nighttime staircase of the Capitoline Hill is the ideal place to burn off the calories from dessert. —Daria Reina
