Hugh Hefner dressed as one of his own Bunnies? Women reimagined as desserts? “This notion of what is art for, that it can’t do anything,” the British artist Margaret Harrison, now 81, said in 2016, “If you find the right context in which to make the art, a lot of people become interested in what you’re doing.” And what Harrison has been doing over her whole career is fighting the good feminist fight, bringing activism into art that speaks truth in fascinating ways. This exhibition of 50-plus pieces—installations, paintings, drawings, and texts—celebrates the diversity of Harrison’s work. Its title, “Dancing on the Missiles,” is a reference to the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp, a site of peaceful protest, back in the 80s, against the installation of American nuclear missiles on an English military base. —L.J.
