Ferris wheels. The Eiffel Tower. Telephones. The first modern World’s Fair took place in London, in 1851, and since then, these fairs have introduced groundbreaking innovation to people from all corners of the Earth. An expo of these expos is now on display at the Wolfsonian-FIU, in Miami. Curated by Silvia Barisione and Francis Xavier Luca, the exhibition features an extensive collection of memorabilia from past fairs, including those in London (1851), Chicago (1893), and Rio (1908). Viewers are invited to explore an incredibly tumultuous century through the lens of technological progress—in everything from politics to television. —Charlie St John
