The Paris Theater, which opened in 1948, was made for spectacle. Manhattan’s last single-screen theater, with more than 500 seats, buttressed the audience experience in 2023 when it installed a Dolby Atmos sound system and technology that allowed the projection of 70-mm. film. That same year, the Paris launched “Big & Loud,” an annual showcase of films meant to be seen and heard at full scale. Now in its fourth year, the series features more than 40 films, including 17 on 70 mm. The lineup includes Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Boogie Nights, along with 70-mm. debuts of The Sound of Music, Batman, and Kill Bill. Sofia Coppola takes questions on September 10, after the New York premiere of a 4K restoration of Marie Antoinette. Isabella Rossellini closes the run on September 15, taking part in a Q&A following White Nights—its first 70-mm. screening in New York in more than four decades. —Clara Scholl
