It was only a matter of time before Taek Jho Low asked the White House for a pardon. Low, the Malaysian-born Wharton School dropout, better known as Jho Low, is accused by federal prosecutors of looting billions from 1MDB, the Malaysian sovereign-wealth fund he helped launch in 2009. He is reportedly in hiding under Chinese protection, while still believed to control vast sums of money.
The request was audacious, even by the standards of a man accused of one of the largest financial frauds in history. A government insider says the pardon is unlikely: βHe is a very bad guy. He fooled a lot of people.β But never say never with Trump in the White House. Especially when the fugitive in question may still be worth billions.
