There’s a growing movement in fashion that exists behind closed doors. Anyone can access it, they just need to know where to look. Tucked away in apartments from Paris to Los Angeles are by-appointment-only boutiques where shopping feels like entering someone’s home.

At the center of this if-you-know-you-know universe is Clara Hofer-Maire, the co-founder of Turn Paris, which began as a vintage shop in 2022 and expanded into ready-to-wear last spring. Since starting the company with her friend Alix Darcy, 27, the duo has found fans in fashion’s insiders, like downtown New York designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh, model and actress Jessie Andrews, and AIR MAIL’s own market editor, Amanda Lee Burkett.
