READ

Zero Visibility Possible

Investigative reporter Nina Burleigh’s debut novel, Zero Visibility Possible, has a jolting start. Based on the true story of the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas, the book begins with a middle-aged white man—armed with a cache of weapons and ammo—firing an automatic weapon into an assembled, oblivious crowd before turning the gun on himself. Burleigh reimagines the real-life investigation from the various points of view of the journalists covering it, interweaving the disturbing flood of disinformation and conspiracies with the reporters’ search for the truth. Lucky for us, this thriller is the first of a yet-to-be-released trilogy. ($14.99, www.amazon.com) —Paulina Prosnitz

WEAR

En Passant

The term “chore jacket” has always struck me as a bit misleading because when I wear one, I’d rather do anything but chores. That’s why I prefer En Passant’s Readers Jacket. The summer edition is made from Irish linen and comes in an array of colors, from pistachio green and celandine yellow to chocolate brown and indigo blue. It has several large but unassuming pockets and can accommodate a pair of sunglasses, a pack of cigarettes, and yes, a paperback. The jacket pairs nicely with shorts and jeans for casual summer evenings, as well as with trousers for more formal affairs. It can be purchased online at En Passant’s website or in-store at J. Mueser, on Christopher Street in Manhattan. You’ll find me there this fall, when I’ll be swapping out the linen version for one in corduroy or tweed. ($325, enpassant.nyc) —Michael Pescuma

LOOK

The Tennis Court

Is there a sport more pleasing to watch than tennis? There’s the sound of the racket hitting the ball and the rhythm of the players rallying back and forth, and then there’s the court. All regulation tennis courts are structured with the same line markers and net heights, but some sit under a canopy of palm trees while others are surrounded by over 14,000 stadium seats—such as Centre Court at Wimbledon. A new coffee-table book written and curated by the journalist and tennis player Nick Pachelli features 200 international tennis venues, complete with vibrant photographs and fascinating descriptions. From a grass court located in Charles City, Iowa, to an all-pink court at the Lotte Hotel Jeju, in South Korea, The Tennis Court will inspire you to travel the world, one match at a time. WEAR

Brunello Cucinelli

On some days, it’s not enough to simply wear Brunello Cucinelli—we won’t be satisfied until we, too, live in an ancient hilltop town in Umbria, surrounded by the fruits of the good life. Thankfully, the brand’s new Mediterranea capsule collection is a decent approximation. Inspired by the sea, its bikinis, slide-on shoes, net-weave knits, and crisp poplins come in a palette of blue, white, and sand. The must-have item of the moment is the Striped Dazzling Cotton English Rib Cropped Sweater in Light Denim. Long-armed and a bit oversize at the shoulders, its silhouette suggests that it may have been borrowed from a broad-shouldered boyfriend. (In Cucinelli’s world, everything has a story!) It’s the perfect weave and weight to banish a summer chill, whether it’s happening on a boat or en terrace at Hotel la Palma on Capri. ($2,200; brunellocucinelli.com) —Ashley Baker

STRUT

Balenciaga

Sneaker-heads, on your marks. Balenciaga has launched the Circuit, a fresh interpretation of running shoes, whose exaggerated proportions add a kick of fashion. While their soles are especially endowed under the toes and heels, the shoes are surprisingly lightweight— perfect for your carry-on. To some, it will seem sacrilegious to suggest taking these on the treadmill, but in a season of extensive summer travel, every item inside your Globe-Trotter should be doing double duty. And rest assured, these will look just as good in the gym at the Ritz Paris as they do strolling down the Rue de Sèvres. ($990, balenciaga.com) —Ashley Baker

SWIM

Luisa Beccaria

The Milanese designer Luisa Beccaria (full disclosure: she is my fiancé’s mother) has long been a staple of Milan Fashion Week, with her ethereal dresses in flowery patterns and flowing silhouettes. Since opening a leisurewear store on Capri’s main square in 2021, Beccaria’s bathing suits—designed in collaboration with her daughter, Lucilla—have become a must-have item for the stylish set on holiday at the Amalfi Coast. The bikinis and one-pieces are wonderfully cut and feature the brand’s signature flower-patterned print. This summer, we’re wearing the Triangle and Slip Bikini variations, which come with their matching pareu. ($262, luisabeccaria.it) —Elena Clavarino
