READ

Laguna Vintage

If you, like me, find contemporary children’s books utterly ghastly in both cover and content, then you owe it to yourself to follow Laguna Vintage on Instagram and browse its Etsy shop. Unlike what’s typically found in the children’s section at Barnes & Noble or Waterstones, the picture books and storybooks on this online storefront are impeccably curated by its founder, Gina Berry. She came up with the idea for Laguna Vintage when she dug up her beloved classics to read to her newborn son, only to discover that a second copy of Need a House? Call Ms. Mouse!, by George Mendoza, with illustrations by Doris Susan Smith, sold online for around $100. A true treasure trove of vintage books guaranteed to inspire and be cherished, Berry’s children’s-book store doubles as something akin to a reverent digital museum showcasing their lovely illustrations. STRUT

équipement De Vie

The intersection of sneaker-heads and mariners will find plenty to love about Équipement De Vie, a new collection of sailing sneakers co-founded by James Barshall and Charles Finch. The shoes come with a drainage system, a non-marking and anti-slip sole, a protective top layer, and a heel lock to keep one centered during tacking. But they are just as functional on the city streets as they are on the open seas. Our current favorite: the minimalist Lemieux Suede, made of navy, vegetable-tanned suede. But at these prices, it’s tempting to invest in the white leather version as well. ($210, equipmentdevie.com) —Ashley Baker

LIGHT

Flamingo Estate

Winter is coming—but what if we told you that summer can be bottled up and served in an understated, elegant green candle? The Flamingo Estate Tomato Heirloom candle is the olfactory equivalent of stepping into the kitchen of your mother’s impeccably styled vacation home near the beach. (Think of fresh herbs and vine-ripened tomatoes sitting on a spotless, white countertop.) At a fantastic price point and with a vessel so beautiful it belongs on your coffee table, this candle is a must-have for the warm and, perhaps especially, cold months. And if you find yourself in New York, swing by AIR MAIL’s West Village Newsstand and grab the XL size for an endless summer. (from $60, flamingoestate.com) —Jen Noyes

WEAR

Vanessa Seward x Bonpoint

The Parisian fashion designer Vanessa Seward specializes in clothes for the insouciant but practical adult. Her collections for Azzaro and A.P.C. have delighted her loyalists with a feminine take on tailoring—offset by the occasional tie-neck blouse and printed shirtdress. Now there’s even more to love with Vanessa Seward and Bonpoint’s new 46-item collection. It includes sweetly detailed wool sweaters, Liberty-print tops, pintucked wool dresses, and two wool coats (the military-style Greco and checkered Grosvenor) that both belong in our closets. The round-toe, lace-up Gauchon leather boots are another non-negotiable, and, now that we think about it, so is a trip to Paris to try it all on in person. (from $345, bonpoint.com) —Ashley Baker
