You’ve been buttoned up for way too long. If trends continue, summer ’21 will be the loosest one on record, which means that your shirting game needs to relax. Now is the time to shack up with a shirt from Jacquemus; French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has made his name, and bustling business, with his fresh take on the age-old design. Thanks to its smart little collar, the Bahia blouse has a bit of gravitas but not an ounce of stiffness. Made of lightweight voile and draped with plenty of abandon, it’s just the thing for wearing over a bathing suit or fitted tank. And if you decide to wear it as shown? We’ll never judge. The Sneakers
Vans x Penn
Spring means a new pair of sneakers in our closet. This season, they will be the Lowland CC from Vans, re-invented thanks to a collaboration with Penn, the tennis-ball brand. Its retro logo looms large in various shades of blue, while a ComfyCush outsole ensures that walking around town will not cause arch aches or blisters. They’ll look perfectly smart with crisp white jeans or trousers, but they’ll be equally on point with floaty dresses of all varieties. (Just keep the socks invisible, please.) ($110, vans.com)
The Collaboration
Lacoste X Polaroid
Men, women, children—Lacoste is serving up fun for the whole family with its new Polaroid collaboration. The photography brand’s rainbow logo is front and center, and its sporty, vintage-y attitude plays out especially well on Lacoste’s polo shirts and dresses. But it’s the print made from Polaroids themselves that we love best, especially when it’s used in kicky swim shorts and track pants. The collection also includes striped sneakers, tees, and even a backpack; we wish you the best of luck in selecting just a few favorites. ($50–$285, lacoste.com)
The Ring
Bea Bongiasca
Due to lots of handwashing and heavy consumption of Purell, our hands have aged at warp speed during this pandemic. New jewelry helps—at least a little bit—especially this Baby Vine Tendril ring by Italian designer Bea Bongiasca, who has been charming the fashion set since she first emerged after her 2013 graduation from Central Saint Martins. Made of burnt-orange enamel covering nine-karat gold and silver, it winds around the finger, but the real star here is the marquise-cut blue topaz. Bongiasca’s work is full of whimsy, and her new nature-inspired collection, cheekily named “You Are So Vine!,” is just the thing to ring in the spring. ($675, matchesfashion.com)
