I’ve been making playlists since I was about 10 years old, when I began transferring my brother’s vinyl onto cassette tapes. With a playlist you can change the track with what you’re thinking, and music can change your entire day.

I was trained as a musician up to a point, but didn’t think I would ever do anything with it because I had a whole other life beforehand. Having just released my third album, Revelations, I can’t imagine a life without music. My producer, Tony Visconti, who also worked with David Bowie, is a genius, and I wouldn’t have an album without him. I made three music videos last November with David LaChapelle, and the very strange thing about them is that they reflect exactly what is happening now. From the nurses to people fighting, anyone would have thought we had shot them during lockdown. David and I both sort of had a premonition, and it was very bizarre when it suddenly became real.
