“Enjoy every single moment of the road,” the hotelier Thierry Teyssier says to me, “because when you leave this vacation, you won’t be able to come back.”
In 2015, Teyssier opened the aptly named Memory Road, a weeklong private drive across the south of Morocco. The journey runs roughly 750 miles, from the Atlantic coast to the first amber dunes of the Sahara. There are five stops along the way, beginning at La Maison des Arganiers, outside Agadir, and ending at La Maison de l’Oasis, in the palm grove of Tighmert. There is one catch—the Memory Road doesn’t take repeat guests.
