On January 22, 2020, Dr. Douglas Schottenstein, a Manhattan neurologist and pain-management specialist, now 52, was admitted to NYU Langone Health with acute kidney failure.
After nearly two weeks in intensive care, Schottenstein was discharged from the hospital to recuperate at his town house, in Lower Manhattan. (His Doberman pinscher, Ronny, suffered from the same affliction and also made a full recovery.)
