Few people can say they are equally talented behind and in front of the camera. Enter Ethan James Green, whose early career with Ford Models, coupled with the mentorship of the late photographer David Armstrong, gave him the tools to master both crafts—and sometimes practice them simultaneously. (Just look at this year’s Pirelli Calendar.) And there’s even more to the repertoire of this Michigan native turned Manhattanite; Green has his own gallery in Chinatown, the New York Life Gallery, which exhibits everything from archival works to pieces by emerging and mid-career artists across all mediums. He also recently published Bombshell, a coffee-table book featuring his signature black-and-white portraits of notables—often friends—from New York’s queer scene, such as Hari Nef and Connie Fleming. Amid juggling (and excelling) at all three careers, Green shares his key components for the good life. —Carolina de Armas
