Elizabeth Olsen knows what it’s like to be the youngest of three daughters. As the kid sister of child actresses turned minimalist fashion mavens Mary-Kate and Ashley, Elizabeth knew she wanted to be an actor since she was a little girl. She also knew she didn’t want to be an actor yet. Instead, she took her time—playing high-school volleyball, studying acting at New York University, and then, quietly, slipping into Hollywood with a series of low-key indie films before turning toward blockbusters. Her performance in Azazel Jacobs’s His Three Daughters may well be her best yet. Olsen plays Natasha Lyonne and Carrie Coon’s little sister, and the three have reunited in a small East Village apartment to say good-bye to their dying father. To celebrate the release of His Three Daughters, which is already being dubbed one of the best films of the year, she shares her key components to the good life. —Clara Molot
