Edward Sorel’s 95th birthday was earlier this week, so I couldn’t resist doing a portrait of my friend. I do a good deal of uncommissioned sketchbook stuff such as this, and whenever I share these drawings with Ed, he likes to grandly proclaim, “I never pick up a pen without a purchase order!” (He’s really not the mercenary he pretends to be.)
