Shepherd Market, a tiny self-enclosed village in London’s swanky Mayfair, reminds me of early Hitchcock films. The area was once known for its disproportionately large population of sex workers. If a card above a buzzer said, “Madame Chloe, French Lessons, 2nd floor,” it probably didn’t have anything to do with foreign languages.
