One may be the loneliest number, even though Three Dog Night had a big hit with “One” and three No. 1 hits, including “One,” as well as 21 Top 40 hits. But, oh, how we adore the one-hit wonder. I’ve gathered some of my favorites here. Somehow these songs—if you know them at all—feel like they’re yours. Enjoy them. Raise a glass to them. Them that did one better than the no-hit wonders.
And, speaking of wonders, my friend the late, great Adam Schlesinger wrote “That Thing You Do!,” which was a hit for the Wonders, themselves one-hit wonders.
