Recently I revisited the ancient myth of Pandora. What’s not remembered very often is that she managed to preserve hope for humanity even after catastrophic flurries of darkness and despair had escaped into the world. In tribute to Pandora’s spirit, and as part of Women’s History Month, I chose to focus on her transformative attributes rather than on her tarnished reputation, shaped over time by a patriarchal culture. I picture Pandora finding her way to this enchanted meadow: a place of restoration and magic possibility, health, happiness, peace, joy, and creativity for all.
