The Frock

Daydress

Gabby Deeming, founder of Daydress, paints all of her whimsical prints on paper with watercolors before sending the designs to Jaipur, where each color gets its own hand-carved wooden block. Having spent nearly 15 years as the creative director for House & Garden magazine, Deeming finds inspiration in antique textiles and furnishings—a set of plates from a market in the South of France or an 18th-century tile spotted in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Or, as is the case with the full-skirted and smock-backed Maeve dress, the folk embroideries of Eastern Europe. Each piece is made in limited runs, so act fast. ($276, daydress.co.uk)

The Top

Caes

Dutch designer Helen de Kluiver launched Caes, a collection of simple bodysuits, sweatshirts, and dresses, in the fall of 2019. The name is a reference to Kees, her late father’s name, and it points to the deeply personal nature of the brand. Making her products ethically through family-owned suppliers and ateliers in Portugal, de Kluiver eschews seasonal collections and instead releases new pieces when they are ready. Unexpected yet extremely wearable, this corseted top made with organic scuba cotton has both structure and movement. ($266, caes-store.com)

The Sunscreen

Tory Burch x Shiseido

A high-quality, high-S.P.F. sunscreen that comes in a stylish bottle, glides on smoothly and quickly, and goes on clear … we should probably order this limited-edition Tory Burch x Shiseido formula in bulk. It’s water-resistant for 80 minutes, and can be applied to both face and body. Plus, its floral packaging, a nod to Burch’s garden at her home in Antigua, ensures that it looks beautiful in a beach bag. ($49, toryburch.com)

The Sun Hat

Maison Michel

Each summer, we vow to improve our hat collection but fail to make good on that promise—until now. This spectacular, striped straw hat from Maison Michel is the kind of thing we’ll wear daily. Woven from hemp and made in Italy, its design is an homage to the 18th-century bergère style. Ideal for both city and country, it instantly improves every outfit, while protecting your skin and pleasing your dermatologist. ($830, matchesfashion.com)
