Clogs are having (another) moment this season, and while we’ve been known to embrace them, a bit of variety is in order. Hence our affection for the streamlined Scout sandals from No. 6, the Nolita purveyor of second-to-none wooden-soled clogs. The sole is lightweight, and the adjustable strap ensures an optimal fit. Just in time for pedicure season, the flat style is open-toed with a bendable base. It’s tough to imagine a spring ensemble that wouldn’t benefit from these versatile beauties. ($290, no6store.com)
The Necklace
Marni
Marni designer Francesco Risso may have been raised on a boat, but he now specializes in some of the best-looking clothing and accessories to grace terra firma. We’ll spare you our savings plan for a certain lip-print crêpe dress, but this floral-beaded necklace is a buy-now, wear-now essential. Made in Italy, it combines glass, wood, and metal to add a bit of flair that suggests it was purchased on a fabulous vacation, without overwhelming the rest of your outfit. Pair with a T-shirt and wide-legged, off-white trousers, and a spring-style uniform is complete. ($250, matchesfashion.com)
The Blouse
Thierry Colson
Your Air Mail style correspondent is incapable of marching into spring without a new white blouse. After weeks of consideration, we found our spring ’21 favorite: this slightly smocked, billowy-sleeved Slava shirt. Does it resemble a nightshirt from the early 20th century? Perhaps, but it’s the throwback charm that makes Thierry Colson’s design all the more appealing. Given the volume, a tucked-in approach is best, so if you’ve been wondering what to do with those paperbag-waist trousers from last season, a solution has finally arrived. ($275, matchesfashion.com)
The Skirt
Studio 189
Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah launched Studio 189 with the intention of bringing African artisans into the global fashion world. Now the zero-waste brand has landed at Bergdorf Goodman, and based on the volume of pre-orders, it’s very popular indeed. While we hate to pick favorites, we have finally settled on this hand-batik cotton-belted midi skirt. (Although we reserve the right to buy the kimono too.) It’s the kind of easy-to-wear yet bright and style-setting piece that we’ll turn to whenever a (good) mood strikes. ($325, bergdorfgoodman.com)
