The Slippers

Shepherd of Sweden

A Saturday jaunt to the Westerlind boutique in Millerton, New York—it’s a thing—reminded us that a wardrobe of house shoes is never complete. The expertly curated store has a lovely assortment of slippers from Shepherd of Sweden, which uses the finest sheepskin and wool to craft the smartest, warmest little booties on the East Coast. They hug the foot nicely, retaining warmth, but are eminently breathable, so that they can be worn all day. Our only regret is having not discovered them sooner. It’s been a very long lockdown, after all. (While you’re on the site, check out the felted ones as well … ) ($120, westerlindoutdoor.com)

The Dress

Staud

Spring’s arrival is imminent, a time of year when our pursuit of wear-everywhere dresses goes into especially high gear. This shirtdress from Staud checks several boxes. Made of a sustainable recycled nylon with a cheery ombré gingham, it has a bit of 1950s nostalgia, while the contrasting belt adds a modern flair. It moves beautifully, and its ankle-grazing length along with its short sleeves ensure that it can be worn both early and late in the season. Just add a cropped cardigan or denim jacket, and enjoy a much-needed return to warmer weather. ($375, matchesfashion.com)

The Blouse

Maison Mayle

Designer Jane Mayle’s silk blouses are a collector’s item for a certain type of downtown New York denizen. Her latest style, the Lucia, is worthy of its predecessors. The brand’s soft-floral-pink Momo Kazu print is offset with their dark Crown of Flowers fabric, used in the cuffs, pocket, and collar, which can be fastened for a more buttoned-up affair, or worn shawl-style for less formal occasions. It offers plenty of drama without overwhelming its wearer. Try it with black tuxedo trousers, stone-colored sailor pants, or vintage-y high-rise jeans. ($425, maisonmayle.com)

The Jacket

Tom Ford

Gentlemen, this one’s for you. Leave it to Tom Ford to upgrade the spring-jacket game with this smart blouson number. Made in Italy from garment-dyed cotton that’s been brushed to create a soft, broken-in feel, it combines the very best elements of tailoring and ease. The interior is unlined, which means it’s perfect for layering, so might we suggest a cashmere crewneck underneath—for now—and something a bit lighter in the summer? Pair with crisp navy chinos, antiqued denim, or perhaps, at some point, lean shorts. ($1,490; mrporter.com)
