An elusive pursuit. All too often, an earring can err on the side of prim. But French designer Charlotte Chesnais, who worked at Balenciaga and Kenzo before setting out on her own, has become something of a master at sculptural jewelry that is versatile enough for everyday use but sufficiently special to make getting dressed feel like an event. For fall, we’re loving this gold vermeil ear cuff that resembles a bent needle. One is all you need, but two will make for a fine pair. Remember: in the realm of jewelry, more is always more. The Upgrade
Flamingo
It’s not often that $9 can create a serious and lasting improvement to one’s daily routine. But after decades of using the same absurdly pricey refillable razor cartridges, something had to give. Enter the Flamingo, a new line of personal-care products that has launched a good-looking, highly functional razor and that will automatically mail out (German-engineered, five-blade) refills (with a hydrating strip!) at regular intervals. With an ergonomic, weighted handle and rubber grip, the Flamingo razor provides the smooth, at-home shave that’s been eluding us for too long. (shopflamingo.com)
The Dress
Dôen
We first discovered Dôen, the dreamy purveyor of faintly romantic California-wear, through Instagram, where the brand is very much A Thing. Still, these well-priced and easy-to-wear pieces are often impossible to resist. Case in point: the Laurel dress, which draws inspiration from the functional frocks of the 30s. Made from a lightweight cotton blend, its full-coverage, highly flattering silhouette is just the thing for wandering around the house—in style. Throw on a cardigan sweater and consider a go-to fall ensemble handled. ($268, net-a-porter.com)
The Underpinnings
Les Girls Les Boys
“But we only just met!” you say. And yet here we are, discussing our underpinnings in great detail. Forgive us: we’ve been buying underwear for more than 20 years now, and have never been this excited by a purchase. These high-waisted, ribbed seamless briefs that hold us in, lift us up, and do not make us cringe have rocked our world. Les Girls Les Boys is the newish brand from Serena Rees, who originally founded Agent Provocateur back in the 90s. (Memories … ) Her concept was built with these times in mind, specializing in pieces that take you from your bed to the street. But it’s the bespoke fabrics and flattering cut that we like best, for making getting dressed so much fun again. And with that, we wish you an excellent day. ($47, lesgirlslesboys.com)
