As an accessories designer for Nina Ricci, Valentino, and Balmain, the Bulgarian aristocrat Sonia Petroff was among the 60s and 70s jet-set crowd of the Italian Riviera. After her death, in 2015, Petroff’s family discovered an archive of more than 800 pieces and re-commissioned the best designs, which have now landed on MatchesFashion. We rarely find ourselves excited about a new belt, but this handwoven, emerald-green beauty, fastened with gold scarabs set with yellow topaz cabochons, is an exception. It’s perfect for transitioning floaty summer caftans into dinner-ready ensembles, and will look just as smart over a sleek sheath when we are eventually called back to the office. The Dress
Anna Mason London
Just because we can’t actually go to Positano this season doesn’t mean we won’t dress the part. After honing her craft while working for the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Max Mara, and Valentino, the London-based designer Anna Mason struck out on her own with a beautiful selection of made-to-order dresses and ensembles that shows off the very best of British fabrics. Take the Stella dress, made of a cheerful, multicolored seersucker. Cascading ruffles lend a festive attitude, while slightly puffed sleeves and a belted waist ensure that the frock lends itself to more than just partying. ($1,407; annamasonlondon.co.uk)
The Cleanser
Augustinus Bader
A combination of stress and generous sunscreen has not been especially kind to our skin. Frankly, our go-to cleanser is not up to the task of removing salt water, chlorine, and a good quarter-inch of zinc. Enter the latest launch from Augustinus Bader—the Cream Cleansing Gel. This two-year-old brand has already become A Thing, thanks to its scientific approach to fostering the body’s own methods of regeneration. (Its namesake founder is a professor at Leipzig University who specializes in stem-cell research and biomedicine.) This gel washes away dirt, impurities, makeup, and even the stickiest of sunscreen while retaining moisture, improving elasticity, and readying your face for a serum or cream. It’s one of the best additions to our skin-care regime in recent memory. ($65, augustinusbader.com)
The Top Layer
Polo Ralph Lauren
Despite the postponement of 2020’s Olympic Games, Polo Ralph Lauren remains intent on supporting the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Enter the One-Year-Out Collection for men, women, and children; 25 percent of every purchase will go to the Team USA Fund, which provides mental-health counseling, training stipends, and injury-and-illness prevention to athletes. (The fund is more essential than ever these days, given that the U.S.O.P.C. relies entirely on support from brand partnerships and private individuals.) While there are plenty of polos to pick from, we’re especially into this lightweight, zip-neck pullover—ideal for chilly nights, in summer and beyond. ($148, poloralphlauren.com)
