I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by music. Growing up, my father was a jazz musician before becoming a sound designer on several Danish and Norwegian films. Now that I’m a filmmaker myself, I find music to be a central source of inspiration.
In August, we start shooting my next film, The Worst Person in the World, the closing chapter of a trilogy, which includes my debut feature, Reprise, and Oslo, August 31st, which premiered in Cannes in 2011. It’s a strange feeling to be bringing to a close a series of films that has taken me more than a decade.
As we have all been forced to spend more time indoors these past few months, here are some of the songs that are inspiring me to think, to dance, and to dream.
