It’s with a bitter laugh that we look at the elegant little Manolo and Isabel Marant booties in our closet and say, “See you next fall, sweeties.” Because fact is fact: the most exciting social event on one’s calendar this winter is likely to be a walk of some sort. Enter Diemme, a brand that specializes in high-quality hiking boots, made by hand at its atelier in the Veneto region of Italy. We’re particularly fond of the Roccia Vet style. The ankle? Padded. The sole? Lug, and set on a Goodyear-welted midsole for extra protection. And they look so good that they’re going to make even the most solitary outing feel a bit more like a proper occasion. The ring
Ippolita
We first came upon Ippolita’s Stardust band ring, made of 18-karat gold covered in ceramic and studded with diamonds, when searching for a gift for a loved one. But it’s so easy to wear, while still adding a bit of dash to the usual, that we decided it’s O.K. to treat yourself to it, too. Designer Ippolita Rostagno is also a fine artist, and her clever use of color, often found in lively, layered jewels, is among her strong suits. Start with the blue band, and try layering it next to one of your go-to pieces. And if you find that you’re compelled to invest in the coral, or yellow, or any of the other irresistible shades, who can blame you? ($995, ippolita.com)
The Turtleneck
Adidas Originals and Wales Bonner
Grace Wales Bonner’s collection for Adidas Originals first appeared on the runway during this year’s London Fashion Week, which was approximately a lifetime ago, and it has been hotly anticipated ever since. The designer’s Jamaican heritage inspired the capsule, which includes tracksuits, a football jersey, and her take on the brand’s Samba sneaker. Our favorite piece is this chenille-knit striped turtleneck. While it would look right at home in a 70s movie, it will do just as nicely around your house and for appearances on the occasional Zoom call. Better yet, layer it underneath a boxy sweater and get outside for a change. ($150, net-a-porter.com)
The Wristwatch
A. Lange & Söhne
Just in time for the holiday season, A. Lange & Söhne has released the Saxonia Thin, a white-gold version of its most celebrated watch. Only 50 have been produced, and if one looks closely, the dial will shimmer with black-gold flux, thanks to a technique developed in Venice back in the 17th century. It’s only 2.9 millimeters thick, ensuring that it appears as sleek as possible, and it includes a three-day power reserve. Best of all, it’s stylish on ladies and gentlemen alike, and will encourage sharing. ($28,954; alange-soehne.com)
