Andrea Leret and Edouard Leret—a pair of twentysomething siblings who worked in New York’s fashion industry before creating their eponymous label, Leret Leret—have perfected the art of the cashmere crewneck. The formula: source yarn derived from Mongolia’s hircus goats (highly variable temperatures in the region mean that the goats’ undercoat remains terrifically soft); knit it into a baggy, unisex silhouette; finish with cheery, vintage patterns like this breezy paper airplane; and sell for a reasonable price with a beechwood comb to ensure that the sweaters will be cared for with the same level of meticulousness that went into their design. Kick It
Flared Jeans
It had been quite some time since we’d ventured into a Gap store, but a stylish friend turned us on to these high-rise flared jeans, and clearly there’s some fresh blood in the design team at Gap HQ. Fall’s jeans might be looking, and feeling, a bit fatigued; these nicely priced alternatives will carry you through until spring. Ideal with heeled boots, a wide belt, and a tucked-in blouse with a bit of panache. ($72, gap.com)
PROTECT
Sunscreen
Thanks to the fine work of dermatologists and aestheticians, we all know that sunscreen should be worn year-round without fail. And yet, it seems that very few formulas are ideally suited for daily use. Tatcha’s smooth, lightweight S.P.F. 35 is an exception, and it has become an integral part of our morning routine. Functioning beautifully as both a moisturizer and makeup primer, this clean, zinc oxide–based lotion offers UVA and UVB protection while Japanese wild rose tightens the appearance of pores. We wouldn’t dream of starting our day without it. ($65, sephora.com)
Lace Up
The New Stan Smiths
Do you have an inner hypebeast? Embrace it. But no need to stand in line for the latest drop at Supreme. Stella McCartney has teamed up with Adidas Originals to launch a unisex, vegan (!) take on the brand’s classic. They’re made of synthetic materials, instead of leather, and animal-free alterna-glue. McCartney has replaced the stripes with punched-out stars, and the tongues are emblazoned with portraits of both the designer and Stan Smith. The rainbow laces add extra style points, but one can certainly switch them out for a solid color. ($325, net-a-porter.com)
At Attention
The Uniform
Is your closet suffering from an overabundance of mismatched separates? Join the club. We’ve adopted a single 2020 style resolution: Buy more full looks. Enter Totême’s fresh take on khaki. The color reminds us of Troop Beverly Hills, which is always a good thing, but it also has rich potential to be worn throughout the year in a variety of ways—pants with a white linen top or patterned sweater, shirt with a trim midi skirt or straight-leg ecru denim. For the office, it looks especially smart as a monochrome ensemble—one that makes getting dressed as expeditious as possible. (pants: $340, net-a-porter.com; shirt: $490, net-a-porter.com)
