When walking up to Eyval, there’s a chance you’ll wonder if you’re in the right place. Surrounded by the warehouse-filled streets one might expect to find in this corner of Brooklyn, it sort of feels like it could be the only business for blocks. By all means, don’t let any of that turn you away—the Persian restaurant is completely worth it. Co-created in 2022 by chefs Nasim Alikhani and Ali Saboor, it takes Iranian street food to a level rarely seen in New York. Skewers, yogurts, and rice are all major players on the menu, but every item is prepared in a refined and inventive way. Take the Mast o Khiar, for example, which arrives in a bright green bath of cucumber and herb oil. Everything here is good, but I’d make sure to order the turmeric and cumin komaj bread and the lamb ribs, as well as the Mast o Khiar. —Jeanne Malle
