In the last five years, Athenian hipsters have been flocking to Kypseli, a sprawling neighborhood known for its neoclassical, Bauhaus, and mid-century modernist architecture. Geitonia, Greek for “neighborhood,” sits on one of Kypseli’s main streets and has been in business for 32 years. Their classics—like pastiche and spinach pie—are delectable. Geitonia’s vegetarian dishes are especially impressive: Don’t shy away from their beans in tomato sauce and their locally famous chickpea soup. —Elena Clavarino
