If you haven’t been paying attention to television and film comedies, here’s a quick refresher on Tim Robinson, the genre’s leading oddball. He was born in Detroit in 1981. After graduating high school, he began touring with Second City Chicago, and in 2012 he joined Saturday Night Live as a performer and writer. While Robinson didn’t attract a massive fan base during his four years at SNL, he did reach stardom following the release of his 2019 Netflix series, I Think You Should Leave, a show both exceedingly strange and laugh-out-loud funny. Robinson rides the wave of that show with his new movie Friendship. Alongside co-star Paul Rudd, Robinson is his usual eccentric and somehow endearing self. —Jack Sullivan
