Ridley Scott returns to the post-apocalyptic genre with The Dog Stars, an adaptation of Peter Heller’s 2012 best-selling novel of the same name. Set in Colorado after a pandemic has wiped out much of the world’s population, the film stars Jacob Elordi as Hig, a pilot living at an abandoned airport with his dog and a man named Bangley (Josh Brolin), a heavily armed survivalist. When Hig intercepts a radio transmission suggesting there may be other survivors beyond their compound, he sets out to find its source. Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney co-star in the much-anticipated film. —Carolina de Armas
