For nine days starting at the end of September, Brooklyn celebrates literature and writers during its annual book festival. The largest free literary festival in New York, the offerings include readings, workshops, book markets, a series of panels, and a day devoted to children’s literature. The festival is no longer confined to the streets and shops of Brooklyn. Readers can stream the talks and panels online, including the children’s book panel (October 2) and the Festival Day panels (October 3). The festival’s capstone—the Literary Marketplace—also falls on October 3, and includes hundreds of book vendors. —J.D.
