Sean Scully and Liliane Tomasko aren’t just partners in life, they work together too. Since marrying in 2007, they’ve been creating side by side in neighboring studios in three cities—New York, Munich, and Berlin. Though both are abstract painters, Tomasko begins her process with Polaroid snaps of everyday life. She zooms in on the details to create curvilinear tangles of bold color, works that speak of domesticity and universal dreams. Scully, meanwhile, tends to the rectilinear, painting resonant grids that draw from his personal experiences. In this unique show, the couple exhibit together for the first time. —E.C.
