The British artist Grayson Perry, winner of the Turner Prize in 2003, calls himself the “transvestite potter.” In fact, he is a cross-dresser who has invented a female alter-ego: Claire. Together, Grayson and Claire critique British culture, society, and style through ceramic vessels, tapestries, and paintings in explosive color. This exhibition of 40 new works by Perry questions the nature of craft-making and the artist’s authenticity in a digital future. Works by “outsider” artists such as Aloïse Corbaz and Madge Gill are part of the show. —Elena Clavarino
