For most, the word “barbeque” suggests an event, equal parts cooking, eating, and camaraderie. Korean barbeque—now a popular fixture the world over—upholds this neighborly ethos within a restaurant’s confines, and alongside an inviting array of stews, greens, and, most importantly, meats. This Michelin-starred Korean steakhouse combines the customary K-BBQ experience with that of fine dining, constituting an evening deserving of its high praise. COTE’s menu dedicates an entire page to intricate descriptions of their available Wagyus, Anguses, sirloins, and skirts. Though, for the typical patron, COTE’s $68 “Butcher’s Feast” aptly solves any predicament of choice, offering a sampling of the restaurant’s best. “We kindly ask that everyone at the table participate,” reads the prix fixe’s subhead, holding true to the communal spirit of barbeque, Michelin-certified or not. —Jack Sullivan
