A favorite of the British royal family, this beautiful, light-filled, greenhouse-like one-star Michelin restaurant in the Goring Hotel was designed by David Linely, the late Princess Margaret’s son, who has won a deserved reputation for his bespoke furniture, marquetry, and elegant British decors. In a similar vein of triumphant Britishness, Executive Chef Graham Squire, a Claridge’s alumn, writes menus that showcase the best of seasonal British produce, often organic, and some of the great traditional dishes of the British kitchen. Pop in for what just may be the best full English breakfast in London (eggs with bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, and black pudding); swan by at lunchtime to join a gentry-up-from-the-country crowd mixed with politicians and the occasional star for a fluffy lobster omelette, a house specialty; or do dinner, maybe Beef Wellington for two or the Dover Sole. N.B.: If you come to dine by bicycle, the Goring’s bicycle valet will keep your wheels high and dry until you’re ready to pedal home. —Alexander Lobrano
