PEN Out Loud x Asian American Writers' Workshop: Kazuo Ishiguro with Jia Tolentino

March 4, 2021
828 Broadway, New York, NY 10003, United States

In conversation with the New Yorker critic Jia Tolentino, the writer Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains of the Day) celebrates the release of Klarna and the Sun, his first novel since receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2017. The two will touch on their shared literary interest in identity—Tolentino’s acclaimed essay collection Trick Mirror explores self-deception through a cultural lens. They also plan to discuss writing from the British-Asian (Ishiguro) and Asian-American (Tolentino) perspective. Hosted by The Strand, the event is part of PEN Out Loud, a year-round series of discussions that provides platforms for diverse voices in writing. —C.J.F.
