There are really only two restaurants that compete for No. 1 in Mexico City, at least in our eyes. The first, Enrique Olvera’s Pujol, opened in 2000. Then came Alejandra Flores and Jorge Vallejo’s Quintonil in 2012. The latter is now ranked No. 9 in the World’s 50 Best list, Pujol is No. 13. I’ve dined at both, and it’s hard to make up one’s mind up about which is better. We recommend the tasting menu, which includes blue-corn tostadas, crab with green mole, and cactus sorbet. It’s not cheap, but you won’t be disappointed. —Elena Clavarino
