Two friends opened Ikoyi in 2017, and it wasn’t long before their African, Asian, and European-inspired cuisine turned heads. Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale’s restaurant fulfills that always-enticing prospect of “food you won’t find anywhere else.” And while Ikoyi’s chefs note the influence of “sub-Saharan West Africa” on their offerings, a meal there feels far more ambiguous—and far less prone to characterization—than what might be described geographically. Ikoyi is known for its extended dining experience; make a reservation for an evening you’d prefer prolonged. And once you’re there, relish the unusual flavors, the untapped palate. —Jack Sullivan
