“Chishuru is not a fine dining restaurant,” its Web site proudly states. Adejoké Bakaré started serving West African food in the Brixton Market a few years ago. When lines started forming across the block, she decided to relocate to central London. Since opening in Fitzrovia in 2023, her restaurant has already been awarded a much-coveted Michelin star. Its dishes—scotch bonnet, oxtongue, plantain—are very much no-frills, and served in colorful ceramic plates. It’s a must-go if you’re stopping into London for a few days. —Elena Clavarino
