It didn’t take long for people to notice Erik Demaine. By the time he was seven, he was called a child prodigy. By age 12, he had enrolled at Canada’s Dalhousie University. At 20, he was awarded a Ph.D. by the University of Waterloo. His subject was niche—computational origami! Demaine believes art is a means to problem-solving. In recent years, working closely with his father, Martin, the two have transformed flat pieces of paper into complex geometric sculptures that prove math theorems and turn words into art. This exhibition presents their groundbreaking vision. —Elena Clavarino
