After meeting at the Royal Academy of Arts, in London, the artists Muirne Kate Dineen and Paul Vanstone went their separate ways. Now they come together again in a joint show. “There is a conversation and a connection between our work,” says Dineen, who makes art with the ancient technique of Arayash fresco, a complex Western Indian practice of painting that uses bright colors to evoke intense feelings of joy. She wants her audience “to be enveloped by color, to be swallowed by it.” Vanstone’s smooth, deliberate marble and stone sculptures offer a cool contrast to Dineen’s fiery work. Still, the two artists, according to Vanstone, “both love transforming raw materials and seeing where this takes us.” —Jeanne Malle
