Back in the spring of 2023, rumors circulated that Dustin Hoffman and Brian Cox were due to star in a crime comedy directed by Dito Montiel. By the end of the year they’d both been swapped out of the cast—which might have been crushing if their replacements hadn’t been Bill Murray and Ed Harris. The film is called Riff Raff. Harris plays Vince, a former criminal who went straight upon meeting and marrying his wife, Sandy (Gabrielle Union). Two decades into their relationship, the couple are looking forward to a relaxing New Years Eve when their delinquent son, Rocco (Lewis Pullman), and his pregnant girlfriend (Emanuela Postacchini) show up on their doorstep. Also crashing the party? Vince’s ex-wife (Jennifer Coolidge), a revenge-hungry mafioso (Murray), and the mafioso’s henchman (Pete Davidson). As with any good family reunion, chaos and a bit of risk ensue. —Jack Sullivan
