In 2014, after six years of success with the Abbot Kinney stalwart Gjelina, Travis Lett opened Gjusta, an all-day, more casual bakery and café. Across the street from Gold’s Gym Venice, where Arnold Schwarzenegger lifted in the 70s, the restaurant serves homemade bialys, roasted mushroom brown rice bowls, and tahini croissants made with seasonal produce from local farmer’s markets. Seating is largely on the outdoor patio, which is crowded every weekend, without fail. The house-smoked salmon, by far the best in the city, is worth the wait. —Jensen Davis
