In this day and age, it’s hard to find a real speakeasy—one that is actually hard to access. Enter 1930, a cocktail bar in Milan’s nascent Chinatown, which is nestled in the basement of an anonymous storefront. The cocktails change every month, based on a theme. The owners, Flavio Angiolillo and Marco Russo, also preside over the acclaimed bohemian aperitivo spot Mag Café, and you’ll have to befriend them to get into the speakeasy. Unlike Mag, though, 1930 is very much prohibition–style. The walls are brick, the lights are dim, and patrons sip their cocktails in candlelight. —Elena Clavarino
