The Food Chain

In between descriptions of the recipes she holds dear, Nigella Lawson, the British food personality known for making cooking sexy, spills the beans on her reputation: “I would never think of myself as flirtatious,” she says. “I think I’m camp rather than coquettish.” Lawson is one of a series of chefs invited onto this BBC World Service podcast to share their lives in five dishes. In 30-minute segments, Dan Barber, Samin Nosrat, Yotam Ottolenghi, Jacques Pepin, Marcus Samuelsson, Alice Waters, and others serve up home recipes replete with personal anecdotes. Other episodes cover diverse territory within the realm of food, with titles such as “Divided by drink: A tale from dry America,” “Eating with Etna,” “How to date a vegan,” and, of course, “Sourdough love stories.” —J.V.
