The Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter returns on October 16 with While The Flood Rages, released by Decca Records. The 15-track album reworks music from Richter’s score for Wayne McGregor’s ballet MaddAddam, based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy of the same name. Moving between orchestral, electronic, choral, and piano arrangements, the album reflects on ecological collapse, technological change, and human connection. Despite its bleak subject matter, the album ends on a hopeful note. —Clara Scholl
