Will McLeod was born in 1985, in North Carolina. After studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in Midtown Manhattan, he embarked on a career designing for Tanya Taylor, a women’s clothing brand based in New York City. McLeod worked there until 2016, and the art he creates today pulls from his experience with textiles and design. McLeod’s paintings and drawings suggest a three-dimensional aesthetic, and in the works he produces from assorted fabrics, ridges and curves spring to life. His first solo exhibition—at the Fireplace Project in Hudson—presents material pieces as well as drawings and paintings done on paper. In both mediums, McLeod’s style is at once abstract and vibrant. —Jack Sullivan
